![]() Atento continues to work with additional financial stakeholders to achieve a consensual dealĪtento S.A.Atento enters into a restructuring support agreement with certain key financial stakeholders to obtain support for a comprehensive balance sheet restructuring. Please join us on September 28th, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Atento Capital, where we will provide an in-depth understanding of our organization, our mission, and our collaborative efforts to support Latino founders within the venture capital sphere. I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity to engage in a dialogue with Marcos and Rosa, shedding light on their experiences and their connection to Atento Capital, as well as the remarkable contributions they make as Latino investors. I extend an invitation to everyone to participate in our event, "Somos Atento," a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. As a Latina professional at a venture capital firm that includes esteemed Latino investors like Marcos Bazzana and Rosa Hathaway, I find myself deeply inspired to evolve and progress within this field. Not only do we boast a diversified investment portfolio in terms of capital allocation, but our portfolio extends to include an exceedingly diverse array of founders, team members, investors, and support personnel. I am extremely proud of the work being done at Atento Capital and the overarching mission that guides our firm. This holds true for all founders seeking financial support at various stages of startup development. This form of representation is of paramount importance at the investor level, as it facilitates collaboration between founders and individuals who share similar backgrounds and identities. Crunchbase data further reveals that approximately 86% of venture capital firms lack representation from Latino investment professionals. Additionally, "US Latino gross domestic product (GDP) is the fastest-growing 'economy,' and grew 28% faster than the rest of the US economy from 2010 to 2017" ( Bain). This fact is particularly striking when considering that "he cumulative economic output of US Latinos reached $2.7 trillion in 2019, positioning US Latinos as the equivalent of the world's seventh-largest economy" ( Bain). Furthermore, LatinxVC's annual report for 2022 underscores that "Latino/a-led start-ups received only 1% of investments made by the top 25 VC firms between 2007-2017" ( LatinxVC). ![]() As today marks the commencement of Hispanic Heritage Month, I wish to offer insights regarding the role of Latinos in the realm of venture capital.Ī comprehensive analysis conducted by Bain in 2020, encompassing the top 500 venture capital and private equity transactions, revealed that less than 1% of these transactions featured a Latino founder. ![]() Prior to my association with the firm, my exposure to the venture capital realm was limited, but over the past few months, I have significantly expanded my knowledge of the industry. Since joining Atento Capital in June, I have had the privilege of collaborating with exceptional individuals who share a profound commitment to investing in the underinvested.
